What to Expect On Sunday Mornings
What will people be wearing?
While you will see a few folks in a suit, most will have on something comfortable like jeans and a T-shirt.
What kind of music do we play?
You can expect traditional Southern Gospel hymns -- like the ones from most church hymnals. On occasion, a new song is added in as well.
What is the sermon like?
In technical terms, the sermons are usually expository sermons. That just means that the main points of the sermon reflect the main points of the biblical passage or story for that morning. Most of the time, Pastor Taylor preaches through whole books of the Bible, going chapter by chapter.
What about kids?
Your kiddos can worship along side you on Sunday mornings - in fact, we love when families worship together! If your kiddos are 5 years old or younger, you are more than welcome to utilize our nursery (though you don't have to!).
Our Story
On June 11th, 1900, revival services began at the Baptist Mission of Oolitic. The revival kickstarted plans for a Baptist church to begin in Oolitic. The Baptist church in Bedford called a business meeting to discuss the matter and seventeen people responded (some from other churches in the area) to become Oolitic Baptist's first members. June 24, 1900, Oolitic Baptist was fully organized and the search began for a building and, more importantly, a pastor!
In September of 1904, George W. Terry was called as the first pastor. Soon after, in May of 1906, a building was completed - and the total cost was an incredible $1,550.73!
In 1937, the church faced the challenge of the Great Depression and it could no longer afford to pay its loan payments. Remarkably, the church pulled together the necessary funds through quilting (yes, you read that correctly!).
Now for over 100 years, Oolitic Baptist Church has continued to serve God and the town of Oolitic faithfully. While no church is a perfect church, we are proud to say that the people of Oolitic Baptist are eager to love God and neighbor. We are excited to see what God has in store for us over the next 100 years!

Oolitic Baptist Church is associated with the Southern Baptist Convention. As such, we align with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 (BF&M).

Meet the Team
Pastor
Taylor Quinley
Pastor Taylor has been pastor of Oolitic Baptist Church since February 2018. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Christian Ministry and Divinity from Midwestern College in Kansas City, Missouri and a Master of Divinity from Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. Continuing at Southern, Taylor is pursuing his PhD in Christian Preaching. Taylor has been married to his wife, Emily, since 2015. Together they have four children, George, Emmett, Adelaide, and Isaac.
The Church
A faithful and loving family.
We are proud to say that all of our members work together to serve the church and the community. Ephesians 4 describes a healthy church as one in which each member does their part. God has gifted every Christian, and we are to use those gifts to serve Him. Our church is filled with those who do exactly that – serve God and neighbor. We desire that each member of Oolitic Baptist Church, young and old, joyfully and faithfully serve Jesus.
